Fly me to the moon

Did you ever wonder what it would be like
To fly to the moon and back
Above all the stars
Our sirens and cars
People on those streets
So eager to meet
Then just walk away
At the end of the day
From you

Once upon a time
I dreamt of a relationship
That lived forever
Without any ends
More than just love
Above being friends
Where we loved as one
Pure and content
Maddening passion
Lustful and spent

The dream never evolved
To outlive my sleep
Now staring at your photo
Be-trodden at my feet
Whereupon I pick you up
To again see your smile
A flicker of hope
To hold but awhile

Yet love doesn’t last
Does it
The moon is too far
Sirens ever present
I can barely see your star
Your willowy neck
Your silver
Distant car
As you wave gently goodbye
Caressing our plight
Like all true relationships
Toward the dead of the night

7-stop-expecting-others

you drifted out
then came back again
the same old smile
the same old friend

children now
aligned at the hip
husband too
a clever fit

but for you
as time sets in
are you now happy
and peaceful within

or do you still struggle
for what might have been
had the line been cast further
had the grass turned green

the heat burned your thongs
in the distance once again
watering afar
searching for your bent

or were you merely wandering
till evening fell once more
when you could finally escape
the mundane day to day
dreaming of a paradise
that never came your way

Seth – A love story

f2666743143f4bab430d32d43e2138b7

The first remnants of gravel
levelled out beneath his tyres
lights shone through the curtains
into Jessie’s living room
as she sat
legs outstretched
to hear the gauze door slam
boots aside
his blonde mop
angling within her gate
one kiss
meeting her open lips
as two moths played with the veranda light
in tune with the porch’s want
for nothing but solitude
away from the dance
the clutter
the bustle

The dinner table lay quiet
as he ate
upright
with fork and knife at one
the gentle flow of his fingers
in then out of her work
her well prepared meal
for him

The bed appeared somewhat cold
holding Jess he dreamed
of reaching into tonight
to grab then feast upon her heart
to lye within her love
deep inside her night
where the evening candle flickered
shining against their love
opening a narrow pathway
toward the evening sky above

Whereupon he would ride arm in arm
in tune with his lovers soul
he died then went to heaven
as his dream did rapidly unfold
Love me forever Jess
clinging to her every breath
I’ll love you forever
she replied
my gorgeous
my beautiful
Seth

the final turn

Autumn, bath, dreams, film, kissing, knight, leaves, love, lover, poem, poetry, romance, romantic, single, touch, walk

Jillian walked on
the middle of the promenade was half lit
Autumn leaves scattered in the breeze
as her brisk steps continued
clutching at her cardigan
searching the sidewalk for onlookers
there were none

The key finally met with her locks center
to open her door once more
with her hallway light now on
and the clothes rail
near and in sight
throwing down her scarf
running a bath
to close out her night

The film was entirely relaxing
film noir was her friend
the restaurant polished and fun
her waiter had noticed her she thought
but it was over before it had begun

How had she ended up single?
A place she did not want to be
everyone else was in love
with their children over by the sea
stuck in the inner city
ageing and losing her looks

The bathroom mirror kept watching
in tune with her every step
lighting two candles above her
she lay there alone and confused
smiling at all of her failures
to keep herself amused

How did I end up single?
A place I did not want to be
When would the blue sky appear?
To once again shine upon me

Then just as the water ran cold
her memory began to fade
the collection of broken loves
all wandered outside in the shade
she dreamed of her shining knight
in armour he now appeared
he was more than an apparition
he was a lover to hold her near

Resting her softly upon his shoulder
he carried her back through the rain
out through the Autumn corridor
back where it all began
she nestled her cardigan in tightly
and drank in his calm even breath

Where he stood her now
straight and upwards
to take in her brilliant eyes
as he lifted up his hands
to touch
then kiss her inside

The hallway light remained on
though she never did return
her knight
had finally arrived
at the final gate
before the last turn

I doubt it

chest pain, computers, dreams, fifty, life, phones, poem, poetry, retirement

Fifteen more years of coffee cup days
fifteen more hours
of a sunlit Sunday
at fifty
computers
tracking me down
screens
dominating my life

Mondays
another pain in the chest
please don’t ring
phones
I had spent thirty years
since those childhood days
oh to be 18 again
why, I’d be a film director, a movie producer
anything to move outside
away from that desk
with its bland blue screen
those forever ringing phones

images

Maybe in fifteen years retirement will form the greatest anti climax of my life
maybe I’ll remember that Monday morning
with that computer desk
that pain in the chest
dominating my life
bit by bit
I doubt it

The phones kept ringing
maybe I’d been in business
selling another product
or providing some kind of service
to customers near and far

maybe you were with me
I just but can’t recall
was it back in autumn
or was I in the fall

my thoughts are somewhat jumbled
I need to find my bed
I need someone to answer
those voices in my head

voices
chattering
disturbing
penetrating deep inside my mind

further out I sit now
from beyond your blanket filled bed
he doesn’t need
want
or love you
scream those voices in my head

yet from inside your head
dreams filter through
I need the voices to leave me
I want to dream of you

Knights before dinner

The teenagers they now sat
awaiting her well prepared food
preoccupied with their phones
verging on the rude
as the door shut ever so quietly
he gradually then appeared
distracted by his day
unable to digest their words
perhaps they had said Hello Darling
or perhaps How was your day?
he didn’t much care for small talk
as he went upon his way
toward his beer then nuts and cushion
his well respected chair
an apparition to the teens
whom hardly knew he was there

Her attention slowly travelled
to rest upon the feet of her Knight
she now dreamt of him carrying her
far away
then out of sight
he lifted her high upon his bed
to lay petals throughout her hair
before slowly unbuttoning her blouse
to caress her abundant share
then slightly he lifted his lips
to meet her soft warm touch
skin upon skin she loved him
needing him so much

where do you sleep now

Rain fell softly
on your iron roof tonight
window panes obscured
raindrops out of sight
what for all the water
where did it but land
making one large river
perhaps even some sand

But where do you sleep now
all cosy in your bed
or on a distant ship deck
you never really said
can I catch you falling
as your dreams take you away

Or can I think of you
and the time you let me stay

Catching smiles

Trees appeared
and over time they grew
around the lives of our house
and you
would sit on the balcony
staring into where
where your mind would take you
I never really knew
sometimes you’d talk
maybe once in awhile
I could only really capture
your infrequent smile

I’d hold it in my memories
to let out late at night
when forever
I would dream of you
til mornings light

Between the shadows and the light

The night time played tricks with his mind
he wasn’t sure where she was
struggling to find her
then suddenly he awoke
in the middle of his dream
to find Sasha laying aside him
eyes looking into his
softly breathing then smiling
her hand brushing through his fringe
drinking in her scent
thankful for her touch
leaning forth to kiss her
loving her so much

As the wind caressed our curtains
massaging between his thighs
whispering “I love you”
drinking in his eyes
before lifting my hand higher
to lick his warm cream in
he had needed me to free him
to strengthen his long hard skin
arching back in exultation
in spasm once again
between the shadows and the light
wishing it was now not then

As looking toward the window
memories drifting through my room
the lover with awe and wonder
my one and only groom
filling me with song
with fire and with soul
as gently lowering my thong
where lust and pleasure lay
thrusting with a passion
up then down in sway
burning between my thighs
screaming out his name
climax after climax
crying as I came
