Fly me to the moon

dreams, love, Relationships, us

Did you ever wonder what it would be like
To fly to the moon and back
Above all the stars
Our sirens and cars
People on those streets
So eager to meet
Then just walk away
At the end of the day
From you

Once upon a time
I dreamt of a relationship
That lived forever
Without any ends
More than just love
Above being friends
Where we loved as one
Pure and content
Maddening passion
Lustful and spent

The dream never evolved
To outlive my sleep
Now staring at your photo
Be-trodden at my feet
Whereupon I pick you up
To again see your smile
A flicker of hope
To hold but awhile

Yet love doesn’t last
Does it
The moon is too far
Sirens ever present
I can barely see your star
Your willowy neck
Your silver
Distant car
As you wave gently goodbye
Caressing our plight
Like all true relationships
Toward the dead of the night

7-stop-expecting-others

skimming stones

The road opened up as we skirted within the hills
rolling eastward toward the coast
a line of heat sat above the bonnet
reminding us of summer
of the need to swim
to litter ourselves upon the northern coast
our home for the coming months

Jack was tired
the riverbank approached slowly
as he idled her down before parking in the shade
to rest

I was skimming stones as the sun crept behind Glasshouse Mountain
the car door waking my sleepy driver
I rolled into him
kissing him on the neck
before resting his hand beneath my short dress

Pushing his fingers
hard against my crotch
unzipping my love to meet his flesh
warm and slender
tender to the touch
my mouth caressing his manhood
sucking into his soul
my tongue sliding lower
to capture him whole

It’s getting late darling
we still have some driving to do

he said now with a sigh
before lifting up my face
to kiss my now warm lips
gently removing his fingers
across my soft smooth hips

you asked me for a poem

You asked me for a poem
I found it difficult to find
voices in the distance
blurring a distracted mind
focus now I thought
re enter the poems scene
open up my mind
to the softness in between

where your collar meets your neck
warm to my faces feel
loving being up close
verging on the surreal
let me lay forever
beneath your calming breath
accept my lips sweet kiss
as a gift to your beautiful neck

A woman and her sea

Jillian walked faster now
the cool air capturing her breasts
closing in her cardigan
she briefly hugged herself
in search of inner warmth
and perhaps inner strength

The lights further out caught glimpses
of shark nets
rust rope then chains
holding their weight
a north easterly breeze
brisk in its center
causing the barrier to sway then grate

Danny had been relentless
unkind to a T
Jillian was lost
a woman and her sea
in search of a crust
a mere morsel of of love
kindness
understanding
a lightning bolt from above
yet her evening walk was lined
with questions and revision
rocked to the core
during Danny’s inquisition

Leaving the promenade
streetlights high above
people quietly chattering
fingering her glove
Jillian felt nervous
cautious and circumspect
he’d practically denuded her
rendered her a wreck

tumblr_n7bhni1omX1sre1ijo1_1280

Idling up the stairs
opening the doorway from ajar
Danny smiled then hugged her
beneath their shooting star
all was not lost
true love had once shone through
for in that moment of embrace
he kissed her
again
anew

Lights flickered in the distance
yet theirs shone forever bright
Jillian stole his warmth
til early morning’s light

making waves

Chess pieces
looking out to sea
to see over the Pacific Ocean
where boats shadowed the hulls of oily tankers
whose freight bound toward Asia

The waves on my shore weren’t phased
they kept rolling in
only the chess pieces controlled all the moves
horses
standing aside
stalking the unaware
rooks aloft in their corner
frightened yet aware
kings then queen’s upright
overlooking their thrifty pawns
bishops stood amidst the chess
above that moonlit gleam

Enough I finally thought
the oceans wearied my lot
ships have all passed by
boats moved home to rest
yet have those waves continue
breaking forever more
move those chess pieces onward
into the oceans roar
let night falls grace consume me
making waves upon my shore

I could have written poems all day
my green socks
basking in Saturday’s sunlight
the papers were read
my bed
unmade yet inviting
my attire
unkempt yet clean
oh for daylight
with nothing to do
oh for Saturdays
with their ignorance of time

tumblr_mwp10cS78y1rq9ek2o1_1280 - Copy
Speaking of time
I can’t believe it
I have to pick him up from the airport
keys
wallet
shock
horror
I’m late
but didn’t I just say it was Saturday

last night

bed, hug, night, poem, poetry

You nestled into my neck
hair softly touching my cheekbones
fingers reaching into my hand
drifting off to sleep
another memory to keep

You’re breathing ebbed and flowed
falling into a deeper sleep near me
the night sounds rested less peacefully
birds flew in circles
unsure where to land
bats hung on recklessly
fighting for more fruit
cars dealt with late night police
the pool lights flickered
in and out of time with the teenagers
brown from a summer of bikinis
laughing through a summer of holidays

tumblr_mlx037zAsb1qbklpto1_1280 (1)

A train rattled by
two birds played
it was darker than I thought
early Sunday
breathing ever so quietly
you swam through the night
in and out of dreams
in then out of sight

I wanted to hold you
brush your blonde hair away
kiss you on the forehead
hug you over my way
perhaps I’ll just listen
to the sounds of the night
before you awake
to turn on my light

Wind howled at my window
pushing back the blinds
racing through the night sky
swirling around my mind
were you now awake
listening to iron rattling on our roof
or were you still asleep
frightened of the day
when you and I would drift
with the wind leading us astray

The wind crept slowly through my window
I could faintly hear you
breathing quietly
against the tide of another morning
with her sun
away in the distance
moving ever so peacefully
toward us

I could still hear you breathing
slowly
I leaned over to breathe you in
to drink in your warmth
wrap your soul around mine
to capture the moment
and take with me
for when i needed it
in times when I was lonely
scared
in need of love
it feels good
you whispered

that dust filled day

beautiful girl, dog, dust, heat, poem, rain, skirt, summer, young man

Feet
footsteps’
blowing the shadows away from the ant hills
the raindrops
barking through the holes
uncovering the dirt
washing his hands
opening his face
he walked westward

Two rusty nails
peeled back the opening irons roof
lying quietly in the corner
ears folded
dusty paws
one tongue
wet with saliva
drops to dust
he looked eastward

Her skirt fell to the chicken wires gate
the wind catching the cleft of her shirt
her neck hot
sweaty
then damp
her torso smothered
gripping
and flat
she gazed northward

One man
a dusty hat
the young red dog
his sun drenched kennel
the beautiful girl
her youthful face
that dust filled day

Love

Birds sang out of step
occasioning a whistle
cattle foraged on forth
in touch with morning dew
a light breeze met tall trees
above his morning brew
as dogs howled in the distance
angling for their stew

The light soon met moving clouds
above the mountains beyond
before blue sky appeared
the night now all but gone
just as the papers pages
began to turn one on one
two small feet appeared
beneath his smiling son

Then as the sun shone forth
she suddenly glanced his way
reminding of the warmth
that greeted him each day
a weakness within his heart
echoed through to his spine
loving her so much
as fingers intertwine

aching for youth

The muscle disappeared
my face gaunt
unshaven
aged
against weathered fence posts
aching for youth
instead finding ant beds
rust
broken wire and splintered ends

I just lay flat
not remembering the past
it all seemed too far away
tired
broken
unable to mend
the end
