met a sailor the other day
who said he’d sail his boat my way
if I would harbor a stowaway
for whom with he could somehow play
and thus I found a bright young lass
all dressed in robes with much panache
wherefore arm in arm we walked on down
to this sailboats deck on the edge of town

the sailor did laugh with a reckless air
whilst exchanging courtesies  and graces there
as anchoring away I bid them ado
sailing myself for the ocean blue
for far away was my place of rest
my weary compass now put to the test

yet in spite of my rustiness
the silence
and the sea
that sailor boy had rescued me
